چکیده
The 2021–2022 flood is one of the most serious events in Malaysian history, with approximately 70,000 victims evacuated daily, 54 killed and total losses up to MYR 6.1 billion. From this devastating event, we realized lack extreme precipitation inundation information, which a common problem tropical regions. Therefore, developed Rapid Extreme TRopicAl preCipitation mapping framEwork (RETRACE) by utilizing: (1) cloud computing platform, Google Earth Engine (GEE); (2) open-source satellite images from missions such as Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM), Sentinel-1 SAR Sentinel-2 optical satellites; (3) victim information. framework was demonstrated Malaysia flood. preliminary results were satisfactory an optimal threshold five for using data, accuracy inundated floods 70%. daily 230 mm/day observed resulted area 77.43 km2 Peninsular Malaysia. This can act useful tool local authorities scientists retrace information relatively short period management mitigation strategy development.

Flood Forecasting and Inundation Mapping Using HiResFlood-UCI and Near-Real-Time Satellite Precipitation Data: The 2008 Iowa Flood
Floods are among the most devastating natural hazards in society. Flood forecasting is crucially important in order to provide warnings in time to protect people and properties from such disasters. This research applied the high-resolution coupled hydrologic–hydraulic model from the University of California, Irvine, named HiResFlood-UCI, to simulate the historical 2008 Iowa flood. HiResFlood-UC...
متن کاملA New Rapid Flood Inundation Model
In this study, we propose a new Rapid Flood Inundation Model (RFIM). The purpose of the RFIM is to generate predictions of water depth and flood extent using less computer resource than required by two-dimensional shallow water equation models (SWEMs). To be useful the RFIM must produce predictions that are comparable with those obtained from SWEMs. The model described here is an improvement on...
متن کاملProbabilistic flood hydrographs using Monte Carlo simulation: potential impact to flood inundation mapping
Flood inundation modelling generally involves two steps. The first involves the use of a hydrologic model, such as RORB, to estimate the design flood hydrograph for a given design storm event. These models require several inputs, such as design rainfalls (i.e. duration, intensity & temporal pattern), losses, baseflow and routing parameters; each of which has an associated degree of uncertainty ...
متن کاملGIS and Flood Inundation Model-Based
Abstract: This paper presents the methodology and procedure for flood risk assessment using GIS and flood inundation model (FIM) based on the “micro-zonation concept” in which an entire floodplain considered is divided into numerous unit areas (meshes or grids). In this study, Shinkawa-river floodplain around Nagoya City of Aichi Prefecture in Japan an urbanized lowland area, which was greatly ...
متن کاملEvacuation Planning with Flood Inundation as Inputs
Recent flooding events happening in our city demonstrate frequency and severity of floods in the UK, highlighting the need to plan and prepare, and efficiently defend. Different from the numerous evacuation model and optimization algorithms, this paper aims to address flood evacuation planning with flood inundation as inputs. A dynamic flooding model and prediction to estimate the development o...
